You are going to have to be more specific. I am not aware of any decal on the steering column or on the steering wheel.
There was a paper label on the bottom side of the steering column jacket just outside under hood (just behind the wire clip that holds the lower column bearing in place.) The 1969 T&T column label had "CV 7807828" printed on it.
The standard (non-adjustable) column had a label with "TO 7807829" in the same place.
Here is an example on a pic from a '69 on eBay. The decal is on the column just above the signal lever. I can't make out what it says.
By the way ... I added a small ball bearing underneath the star screw the other day ... did the trick on the tele lock. Thanks for the help. I also ordered the star bolt from Ecklers. $2.50 confirmed. Hasn't arrived yet. I'll see if it's the real deal and advise on the Forum.
All I can tell you is that the decal was not put on the steering column at Saginaw. Actually, back in 1969 the car assembly plants painted the steering columns to match various interior colors. So whatever that decal says, it was placed on the column after it was painted at the assembly plant.
My 69 has it too. I have had a few folks tell me it's actually kind of rare to have it in tact. To be honest, I really didn't even notice it when I was looking over the car when I bought it a few yrs back..
I'll take a close up pic for ya and post it.... I am getting a new digital camera this wk (dropped the other one) , so if no one else responds, I'll post then.
What is the decal I can see on various pic's of the steering column on '69's? Is there a repro source for this one?
This is an interesting document piece...Bizocco's book talks about it. But here's the gist of it...it's a lable for the new ignition lock system.
The Ignition Lock system discourages theft by locking the steering mechanism and transmission shift lever simultaneously with the ignition system. When first introduced in 1969, the ignition interlock presented safety issues and warranted instructions until late production The Interlock Caution Label came in two forms before instructions were produced as a sleeve for the sun visor. Here's the text of each steering column label.
October 1968 – July 1969 As part of the new locking column feature, it is normal for the mast jacket shift bowl to rotate when shifting the transmission. However do not attempt to rotate the shift bowl by itself as damage to the shift linkage will result.
or
August-September 1969
This is a rotating interlock
Do not manipulate
Damage may result
The top one was early and glue to the top of the column. The bottom one is the one you see
Cool. I've read Bizzoco's book cover to cover at least twice and still managed to miss or forget that. Just too damned much info in that book. :D Best $70 I ever spent.
Anybody got a pic of the first version on column? I've got an october '68 build date and I'd really like to see how it was positioned.
[EDIT: hey, Hunt, where in the book is the info on the decal? I couldn't find it in the steering column sections on pgs. 55-56 & 81-82.]
[EDIT AGAIN: DOH!!! just realized we're talking about something that would only be on auto tranny cars. I gotta start reading more carefully]

It's under Labels...page 61. Threw me too! I knew it was in there and then recalled his structure. It's a nice one...white letters on clear mylar with a black column.
I thought that the Corvette function locking steering column had a stationary plastic shroud over the shift bowl. So when you shift into Reverse (manual trans) or Park (auto trans) the backdrive system rotates the bowl but you cannot see it move. I know that my 75 works that way.
I would be very interested if owners of 1969 Vettes can report if they can see their bowl rotate or not when they shift to Reverse or Park.
