The front chin spoiler is part of the cooling system. If you don't have it, you will have overheating problems.
This is not necessarily true. I don't have any spoilers, and my car runs cool as can be. Though you are right, the spoilers really do help.

I like the factory spoilers, on the cars that came with them. Other than that, I'm a purist, and I say don't mess with perfection.

:leaving: Hey, your spoiler may not appeal to my personal taste, but you do seriously race your car. I'm guessing it's a street/strip car, and your Vette is most certainly BAD AZZ! :steering:
The spoiler was on the car when I got it.. It's too expensive to have it taken off.. and yes - I do race my car quite a bit...

GSC3, Even if we all hated your spoiler, don't sweat it. As long as you like it, that's all that counts.

Personally, I think it's different and it works for your car.

Some people don't like my front end, but I love it......except when I hear it scrape on the pavement!!! :D

My personal favorite is the nifty spoiler designed to bolt on the front of the hood of c4s. Nice!

Factory spoilers are cool. I personally like the front one for a 78-79. Don't care for the back one much though. But that's my opinion

:iagree: ( see sig)

This is the way I purchased the car and the only other one with the same rear spoiler was in NC. I also have the pace car front spoiler.

It's my car and I like it

AGVI I love that front end on your car. In fact thats what I'm going for in the rebuild of my 78 pacecar.
I am worried about ground clearance though

'80 - '82 had functional factory spoilers integrated into the front and rear bumpers. These were even more effective at reducing drag than the '78/'79 bolt on spoilers.

I have seen and heard of guys losing the middle portion of the air dams to parking pylons..the thing just crushes em up in the middle..the look like this..
.........../\.........when it happens. Guys said just took it off and car starts to overheat.
Mine was pushed up like this when I bought it. I had troubles at highway speeds where the temp would start to climb 210+. Once I repaired it, temp stays at 190 no matter what.

I think they look best on the non-chrome bumper cars though.

i love intergrated spoilers like the 80-82s. thats the reason my car has one :D and if it wouldnt have been a huge pain in the **** i would have done the daytona front for 80-82s. basically the same as Merlin. but i would have had to hack up the original fiberglass and all. :nonod:

on a 68-73, i say leave it alone. on 74-77 i only like the 80-82 rear bumpers (especially on coupes) and on 78-82 i love the 80-82 look. i will probably end up converting my front end to an 80-82 with the daytona bumper, but not for years to come. and at that point i will glass in the ground effects, and bumpers. i love the near seamless look.

id also like to make that 80-82 bumper have a single grille like Glenn's 74 (74-Roadster) and ditch the popup headlights relocating them behind the grille. kinda like Olivers, but hidden. but this is years down the road, so you purists wont have to deal with it yet :D

I like the spoiler on the newer C3 vettes 80-82. i like the wing thats on mine. i don't think it hurts the look of the car. I am still not sold on the front spoiler of my car. It really needs ground effects or maybe even side pipes to make it look right. The older vettes i think look good stock, maybe a set of fender flares too. Just my opinion.
