Hi, Everyone,
I'm new to the site and I'm trying to find my way around. I do have a question to ask if anyone knows the answer. I have a 1971 Ls5 with headers and I'm trying to find someone that can do side pipes for it, all I keep finding is ones that hook up to the stock manifolds. Any info would be of help
thanks
Warren
IF your headers are side exit (called side mounts) then you just need to bolt on the pipes to the flanges and hang them from the body with brackets. Hooker offers the pipes & baffles separately.
Otherwise, if your headers are the standard setup for rear exhaust then the manifold type would work with your setup. ;)
You'll just need a muffler guy to help you with the s-pipes to route the pipes to your flanges. :chevy
My headers were setup for rear exhaust. Then I decided upon side pipes. It requires almost a 180 degree bend to match things up. Any good muffler guy can do it. My guy ordered pipes that were already bent properly. He also had to weld a brace to the frame and pipe to prevent vibration.
I have been told this setup causes loss of power, but it has not been noticeable to me. Good luck with it. :)
