you must be shopping at autocr@p or orielly's..... i asked one of the guys at the old dealership y ac/delco was more...he said becuase you didn't have to make 4 trips to get on that worked... :nonod:
When you say new do you mean rebuilt? They tend to be junk. Even if they don't leak they usually fail internally and then the system is contaminated creating an even bigger problem. They have been through too many rebuilds over the years. I suggest you buy a new one from Delco. It will be a Harrison and may look just a little different but it will work and last for a few yeas if not longer. I have been through that before. I never had any trouble with new ones. I use R134a in my original 69 unit and it still works fine. I do have a small leak but it is not at the compressor.
I replaced my compressor about 1 year ago, then a second time 6 months later. I bought it from Advanced, they warranteed the replacment, even the accumulator and R134! I didn't exactly like having to do the job a second time, but at least I didn't have to shell out a dime. If this one goes bad, I'm taking the car to that place in Sanford,FL that does the whole system upgrade with the Sanden compressor and higher output blower motor. :D

I would like some more details on the place in Sanford. Do they have a web page? Name? Etc?

You can still buy new A6 compressors. I think if you look at Old Air Products or Hot Rod Air or one of those type vendors you will find them. They cost more than a rebuilt but at least you're getting a virgin compressor that ought to last quite a while before needing a rebuild.
After my rebuilt failed I bought a new Delco compressor from The Last Detail last spring.
Worked great last summer with R134.
Rebuilts are crap.
Go new Delco or go Sanden.
