Some of you guys may remember my mindless ranting a few weeks back about the lack of headlight bulb shields on chrome bumper cars. As I was tossing in bed, unable to sleep last night, yet another pet peeve came to mind.
What is the deal with RED heater hoses? Why in the world would you put that crappy looking red hose on your car? I mean, really. It looks like crap. Would it kill you to find some decent looking black hose instead? I've seen more than a few nicely prepped cars with clean painted blocks, well detailed engine compartments, and two nasty lengths of red heater hose running from the engine to the firewall.
Sorry for the :rant: but I'm feeling MUCH better now :D
I hate the fiberglass fit between the front fenders and the doors. This gap is way too big and I hate the way the bumpers fit the body. :rant: :rant:
There are my 2 and I feel so much better :thumbs:
Hmmm...... haven't seen the red heater hoses in awhile ~ where do you get them ? :jester
Here's my pet peeves :
#1 - Cheap aftermarket 1" air elements. C'mon - you have $2000+ worth of accesories on your engine but you can't find a decent air cleaner ?!?
#2 - Cheap aftermarket rubber / foam 12 to 13" steering wheel on a nice vette. I'm not saying it has to be woodgrain, but spend more than $19 and find a decent steering wheel or else go back to stock. :rolleyes:
Mods such as the blue hoses to match the car are OK, you pass. Page62, I know I'm :cry but that's what this whole thread is about. I agree with the other peeve about the wing bolt valve cover bolts, what's up with those things????
This is HILARIOUS! I have the tacky red hoses and the long T style valve cover bolts ...LMAO Although the quick change valve cover bolts are functional for adjusting solid lifter/crane commander cam. Funny, this car's been stored for years and I put it all together when I was pretty young. Now 15 years later it just looks kinda goofy to me. So I'm about half way through pulling the red hose cover off and putting the stock valve covers back on it. :lol: I'm cleaning up a few other sins of a youngster. I gotta get some pics in here .... I associate the look of my engine compartment with the 80's hair metal bands ...lol Which was exactly the time the work was done!
the idea of the wing bolt was for racers to be able to adjust solid lifters easily. but then people were sticking them on cuz they looked cool....remember, wide ties and disco were cool too!....lol :cheers:
What about wiper door trim? Mine always rubs on the right side with the other trim, used to get stuck all the time!! UHG!
It has taken me two years to eliminate all the squeaks and rattles - and now I have a new rattle- I replaced a aftermarket hurst shifter with an aftermarket "original chrome look-alike " hurst shifter that rattles AHHHHHHHH!
DONT BUY THIS
Old vettes are sooo delicate- I would love to sit with an older fart one day who used one as a daily driver to see how he dealt with all the little problems. I can imagine that the older generation was quite a bit more mechanically able than my generation....They would simply have to be to keep these cars running optimally.
hmmm.. i dont see the problem with colored hoses as long as they compliment your plug wires. I think they add color to then engine compartment. Your mentality that only black hoses are fine only works if you have black spark plug wires and everything else under the hood is stock color. I think picking out one color scheme for under the hood is fine as long as you stick with it. Same color hoses, spark plug wires, wire bundles, or other accessories adds a bit of color and uniqueness to your ride. Besides, didtn the stock heater hoses have a red line down the center anyways??
Re: C3 pet peeve Friday, take two (Never Finished)
Vettes that have been customized in any way. I'll never understand what makes people think they can improve on the C3 design. [/img] Report this to a moderator%20DoInsert('%20:rolleyes:%20') ;
Cheap after-market chrome parts slapped on the engine, especially when the rest of it looks like crap already. [/img] Report this to a moderator%20DoInsert('%20:U%20');
