The service manual on the 78 and 79 are similar but different. The wire harness on a 78 is not the same as a 79.
The headlamp harness is the same, but the main is different.

Have you looked for a Haynes manual at a local store? I have a Haynes and a GM Manual and in some ways, the Haynes manual is better.
