Well, the wife was away for most of the weekend, so I took over the whole house.
I got lots of vette work done.
The frame is right-side-up now. The trailing arms are in place.
many of the parts are painted up and ready for assembly.
Here are some pics.
I'll start you off with the parts that got the wife's side of the bed for a couple days.
The pumpkin is looking pretty bling:
I'm debating whether to paint up the rear bearing/brake stuff:
Last, I cleaned up the '70 brake block: before/after
That's it for now.
Tomorrow, I will post on "How to buy bolts".
Did you hug the parts while they were on the wife's side of the bed? Isn't being a Corvette nut great - at least our wives can trust us in certain areas! :D
OK Guys ... I know the gold by inself looks tacky ... but wait until it's all
together and surrounded by semi-flat black. Anyone who knows me ... knows
I'm definitely not bling-bling. Far from it.
As far as the wife goes, she has seen worse. Remember the four control arms in the tub ?
I left the shafts on the bed for her to see. They were still there when I got home
from work last night. She hadn't touched them. So, I picked one up and bugged
her until she touched my shaft. "Go ahead honey, it's hard - but smooth."
Len,Jim - the paint is Krylon 'gold leaf'. It's just gold enamel ... but I like
Krylon. It was top-coated with clear acrylic enamel, since the gold paint
seems to like rubbing off onto anything that touches it. Hence, the glossy finish.
My school colors (first three degrees) were black and gold. I've always liked
the contrast together. I was originally going to go with black/silver, but the
grade8 hardware (all over the chassis) comes in yellow zinc (goldish). So, that's
how I decided to go gold instead of silver for the contrasting parts.
Parts arrive from ZIP tomorrow, so I should have all this mounted this weekend.
