I'm going to replace my water pump and I'd like to hear everyone's suggestions.
There are a few things it has to accomplish though: It has to flow more than stock, it has to be chrome (or highly polished), and it shouldn't cost too much.
Re: Recomendations for a new water pump? (75_STINGRAY)
I am running a high flow "Summit" brand water pump that costs well below the major name brands. It is cast iron and the exterior is an exact duplicate of original, so all original brackets, fittings, and pullies work. They sell a polished aluminum version also. Check Summit Racing

Re: Recomendations for a new water pump? (Silvr77)
Just replaced mine on Sunday. I have a stock numbers matching '78, the water pump was replaced already. I found a guy on E-Bay that rebuilds pumps and had a stock one, just rebuilt. So I now have the stock pump, it runs the same at 190*. If it was a non-stock engine I would go with the stewart pump.

I've run a Stewart and an Edelbrock. I like the Edelbrock
better. You can get them polished:
Short-Style Pump for 1971-82 Corvettes (3/4" pilot shaft) ....#8812
Polished #8812 ....#8822
Fits all 1971-82 small-block Corvettes. Comes with heavy-duty 3/4" ball/roller bearing. Dimension from block surface to hub: 5-13/16".

I installed my brand new polished Al Edelbrock on my '74 and very happy with it. Fits great as my fan blades clear the shroud proving good alignment and fan belts fit right too. Looks great infront of my polished Performer Air-Gap intake too. :D
Also liked the impeller design and the Edelbrock quality. ;) $160 @ Summit.
