Was it just the big blocks that had sway bars? I currently have the rearend apart for new parts, 1/2 shafts, springs, shocks, u-joints, etc should I install a sway bar?
It depends, if you are using stock springs then no. See my sig for the springs I went for. With gas filled adjustable shocks and the bigger front sway bar it turns in very well and the oversteer is progressive when pushed.
You dont mention poly bushes, if you are looking for improved handling be sure and fit them.
Rplacing shocks & springs on the front. I want to redo all of the steering components later to tighten it up. That will include a new steering box for sure. The problem I was having before I tore into it was when I would turn the steering wheel the wheel would move a bit before actually making the wheels move. No where near responsive enough for me. I will probably be asking for some advise on this as well. Any input is helpful.
Exactly what I did. I rebuilt the steering box, not that difficult, or expensive. I rebuilt all the power steering as well and that made a big difference. Smooth!!
