A/C question
Anyone know, where the 'orfice tube' is located on my 73 BB. All the documentaion says to change it when upgrading A/C to R134 . . . darned if i can even find it, or a diagram that would tell me . . .

I believe that 1973 models use a VIR to control pressure not an orifice. I am not certain if the VIR can work in a 134A system but I have heard of people converting to a later model evaporator core. With the later evaporator the orifice tube goes in the inlet line.

I may be wrong but I believe our 73 Vettes use a VIR (Valves In Receiver) system that encompasses several functions, like a receiver-drier, POA valve and others. It is an inferior system that is subject to rust and corrosion, and if you aren't concerned with 100 percent originality, you can buy a VIR eliminator kit for 150 or so bucks that will convert your car to a more modern "clutch cycling" system, that I believe converts to R134 a little better.

He does not convert to the system in any way. This is for the POA equipted systems. I don't know if the 73 has the POA system or not.
