it's not worth it to go to a 336 from 370. only a 10% rpm drop.(no better than a tire swap)
get the 308 w/ super T-10 2.64 1st and you will be very happy.
i know they are junk, but if a good 4+3 popped up cheap it would be
i will get 28" tires for my 61, that will give 370 from 411 :seeya
The owner of Pro-Gear called me. Nice guy. thirty years in Vettes. Has tried all possible combinations of gears, hell he is a gear vendor. Anyway he said ,as mentioned above, the L-79 will not go well with 308's and the 336 is so close that it does not justify the cost. Looks like Norval's T5 at $600 plus mods may be another choice.
P.S. I have much respect for Pro-Gear as he turned down money in order to make me happy with my Vette. Great people and they will get my business if I ever need them.
I went from 3.70's to 3.36's and love em. Try www.smokemup.com and click on the "automath" tab. You should first calcuate your tire diameter, then you can do an RPM comparison. You can even choose your trans.
You'll have to create a log in, but it doesn't cost anything.
Cali- I created a MS Excel spreadsheet calculating gear ratios so I can analyze different gear combinations for the Richmond six speed. (It can be modified for any gear ratios and will give you some good insight)
I can email it to you if you like.... What's your address?
