I have been concentrating on the body and preparing it for the day when I can drop it back onto the frame. After it is back on the frame, then I will prepare it for painting. Right now I have the body and dolly up on jackstands so I can get all around and under to work on it.
Here is a "before shot" of the firewall. I have a lot of work to do before I can take the "after shot".
Here is a shot of the dash area. I still have to remove the old wiring and heater core before coating the entire flooring and firewall with truck bedliner coating.
I have retired the rear bumper cover and made it into my workbench light. Under it is a set of C2 aluminum valve covers, a set of L-89 427 valve covers, and a set of Gen V valve covers.
 Nice  Do the 2x4's support it enough to move??? if not
would the engineered wood do better ?? i dig the light :flag
I have not had any problems with the wood when moving the body around, but am real careful when using the floorjack on it. I put the jack right next to the corners of the dolly where it is the strongest. If I built my dolly again, I would probably use the stronger wood.
Nice pics... I'm in exactly the same state with my '79... body off up on dolly... frame is sandblasted and ready to paint today.
Spray in bedliner material to coat the firewall and flooring inside? Hadn't thought of that.... might have to consider it.
A friend of mine recommended it!
I was asking him about what to paint the underside of the body and he said that he used a spray in bedliner he bought at an AutoZone. He went on to say that if you spray the inside as well, that cuts down on road noise and insulates the floor more from heat. Not sure about your Vette, but my floor was always hot when I was driving!
That light is great. Kinda gives me an idea. Hmmmm....
I retired the bumper because it was the '82 flexable type that was starting to get wavy on the spoiler. Also it had some really cool freehand pinstriping that I hated to paint over. So I bought the fiberglass 82 bumper cover to replace it.
