Just thinking out loud... Anyone upgrade the engine to permanently run Ethyl? I understand that a larger compression ratio, some timing tweaks and air mixture fixes are required. Anyone done it?
Why would you want to go with alcohol. Pound for pound it is a poorer fuel then gasoline. The motor has to be really richened up and it only puts out about 10% more then gas.
Anyone can convert to alcohol with just a modified carb and maybe fuel pumps but for 10% is it worth the hassel??
My blown bigblock can run on low test gas but just switching to hightest and pushing the engine my effective compression ratio is 14 to 1 at 12 pounds of boost and I have none of the hassels.
C'mon, if it made sense I wouldn't be asking :) I can brew my own Ethyl, I can't brew my own gas. and my 10 MPG is gonna SUCK come $3/gal days. Just an idea. Another idea would be to replace the 350 with all electric. http://www.nedra.com/ heh.

Better watch out for the Feds!! They might think you're brewin' it fer sumthin' else. The ATF'll be knockin' on yer door. :skep:
Wouldn't want'em to miss out on an opportunity to tax you for sumthin' meant for consumption would you? Heck, they'd tax you if it was for fuel OR consumption!! Half of what you pay for gasoline goes to taxes. :lolg:
Ive only seen on alky street car. Alot of drag cars have it, mostly dragsters. It only gives a few more HP than race gas, but the comparable gas costs twice as much. Then it allows for much higher compression, and even has one oxygen atom in the chemical makeup of it. It also tends to run colder, and you don't need a carburetor or traditional fuel injectors for it. Ive seen alot of blown alky engines that just have something like a 2 inch aluminum spacer with a few small pipes running into it that just spray it in above the blower.
