Anyone ever repalce the spring that helps the windows roll back up. I replaced my power window switch so i was rolling the windows up and down when i heard something fall inside the drivers door. After pulling the panel off I discovered te spring broken in the door. I have no idea on where to start, any help? Thanks
Well, I would say (having never fixed this before) that I would remove
the window regulator that the spring broke from. Once you get that out,
it should be easy to see if the broken parts can be replaced.
If you get some detailed pictures here, more people would be able to help make suggestions.
Good luck. I hope you don't need to buy a new regulator. I'd look for a used
one if you can't fix the one you've got.
I just recently replaced the springs on the 73. The regulators were already out but they are not that hard to remove. I mounted the regulator in a vise and just turned the gear and arm until the spring fit on and then cranked it back to wind up the spring. It is pretty straightforward once you get it out and look at it. I did not replace the rivet. While it's out check the teeth on the gear and lube all the hinge areas. Craig
