This past weekend my brother and I installed the rebuilt engine and trans in his 75. Engine is basically stock with a little more cam, performer manifold, and carb. Went with 2 1/2" dual exhaust. We ran out of time, but plan to complete the install and fire the engine in a few weekends. Here are a few pics.
Thanks for the compliments. There were no real snags other than I forgot to install the auto trans diptick tube before we slipped it back in. It will not fit once the engine and trans are back in. Solution: Cut the top and bottom off just short of where it bolts to the block and used heater hose to provide some flexibility. I hope it doesn't leak 'cause that engine is not coming back out! We were lucky in that the crossmember was a bolt-in on the '75. We thought about headers, but decided against it because the dual exhaust will breathe the engine better and with the stock heads, headers would only be good for another 10-15 HP. Maybe in the future. This has been a great experience that has brought me closer to my brother, and since I live in MD and he in NC, it gives me reason to see him more often. This is a great hobby!
