Default Hydraulic clutch???

I am replacing the TH400 with a 4sp I currently have the tranny, the bellhousing, flywheel, clutch.
What I haven’t solved yet is the clutch actuating system, should I go the mechanical (original) system or will be easier to take the hydraulic route?
Do I have to buy clutch and brake pedals from a stick car or can I “cut to fit” my big brake pedal?
Did anyone take the hydraulic route? Is the enough space for a hydraulic master cylinder????
Thanks

Us LS1 guys are using the stock F-body hydraulic setup for our T56s. I think that you're going to have to find a set of 4-speed pedals and I would stick with the mechanical setup if I was you. It just seems easier and more straight forward.

You need to find a 4 speed pedal assembly and that is the worst part. Changing the pedals. You need to remove the steering column , the front drivers seat is better taken out and remove and replace 10 bolts. It was not easy.
As for the clutch I went with hydraulic because I didn't want to look for mechanical linkage and the bellhousing I used had a slave cylinder already on it.
For a hydraulic clutch master cylinder I went with a 85 one ton truck unit and other then a linkage change it fit perfectly in the predrilled holes in my firewall. A brake line finished it off.

It is more than difficult it is nearly impossible!! but I managed to take the pedal asembly out of the car , take out the auto brake pedal and install the clutch and brake from an 4sp donor car (chevy nova)

OK I managed to get 3 pedals instead of two a T10 box, to-bearing, bearing fork, pivot ball and bellhousing from a 71 nova.

The question is: where do I get the master and slave cylinder from?
I took a look at summit but the slave they sell is a puller instead of a pusher.

Then I look at Sallem and found a master/slave asembly 4 a T56 (only $1 40) but again it is a puller slaver instead of a pusher.

I have found a nice Ford cable to hycraulic conversion but it is $350 and Ford.....

Any ideas?????

Thanks

I did search on 'slave' on the summit site and it pulled up a few diff push style ones but none where avail by running through the menus, try calling them or e-mailing them.

My link does not work but just type in 'slave' under the search function.

Any of the new cars that has a hydraulic clutch has a bellhousing with a slave cylinder on the side. The camaro's have bellhousing with the slave cylinder of the side and are cheap and plentiful but roll the transmission over towards you making for a shifter that comes out more towards the driver. I would not go 4 speed with all the overdrive transmissions available today.
A clutch master bolted to the firewall is extremely compact and easy to install and only a brake line is needed to join it to the slave cylinder.

You could use a hydraulic throwout bearing. About $120 if I remember.

I just did that and found a Howe slave push style cylinder about $65
For the master I have found 2 Wilwood compact style with remote reservoire

I don´t think an integral master will fit I will interfere with the brake booster

The numbers $65 for the slave another $60 for the master plus an estimated of $45 (hose, brakets, bolts, etc). I think I can have a hydraulic clutch setup 4 less than $200, not bad at all!!!!!
Once I get it working I will document every part & procedure for other that may need it.
