Default Another Interior Dye Question

Is there a good place to buy this dye besides mail order. I am going to have to do my seat backs and kick panels soon. Does this paint come in different finishes, flat, gloss, etc, and if so which should I pick up?

Default Re: Another Interior Dye Question (Eddie 70)

I used several types of interior paint/dye.

SEM Gloss black on front dash and door panels
Plastikote Gloss Black all birdcage trim and rear trim areas and seat shells.
Molecubond Black "leatherlike" (Vinyl) seat covers only
Black Epoxy spraypaint for the steering colomn
Plastikote Fabric paint black for seat belts

The SEM stuff is available locally at say a PPG type paint store. Youll find them in the phone book.

Plastikote is from Autozone-Pep boys type stores and worked as good as the SEM stuff did.

Molecubond was probably the best I used as it is a true dye that penetrates the material. Since the seats would get the most wear and tear, I used it there and am glad I did. They look great and dont even scratch, wears like they came the factory Black that way (originally recently new Tan vinyl). Bought it at Walmart of all places.

The SEM and Plastikote gloss black vinyl paint finish looks like I recently armor all the interior, but still looks realistic and not too glossy at all. The Molecuebond looks satin and made the seats look a very factory finish sheen.

Brent...
