Default Lake pipes

I guess I am showing my age......but I have always like the look of lake pipes on some cars.

What I am wondering is....has anyone out there ever put them on your own C-3? Would love to know what you thought after you did and perhaps might even have a photo you could share.

There are a couple of different types of "side pipes". If you look at some of the sig pics, you'll see 'em. I like the Hookers best. If you're talking about the real "Lakers", with the flange and flat cap on the end, I haven't seen any like that on a Shark, but somebody might have them. A lot of these guys won't answer this, 'cause lakes pipes were before their time. :p:

Not sure what you mean by "sig pics"

I am talking about the real "Lakers" and I agree that alot of guys would not be aware of them but I am hoping that maybe someone has put them on a
C-3 and tell me what they looked like........guess you are around the same vintage as I.....

I seen a '76 C3 with them at Carlise last year. The guy had them capped and was running a stock cat system also. He said that he needed to pass inspections so he kept the cat and the y-pipes. He installed the lakers so that he could uncap them for weekend runs at the track. I looked under the car where he had joined the two systems together and it looked like a plumbing nightmare. Personally I would not have done it if inspections called for a cat system..... If not, then I'd have gone with a headers and a true sidepipe system. Looks better IMHO.

On the other hand they are neat for a '49 Merc lead sled....
