Cowl induction door diagnosis?
How can I tell if my cowl induction door on my hood is opening or not? I have a feeling it isn't, car doesn't seem to open the secondaries at WOT.
I need more speed, help please.

To check your cowl door turn your key to "on" with the engine off and push the gas pedal to WOT. You should be able to look through the windshield and see it open. A flashlight might help. You should also be able to hear it. The carb secondaries possibly not opening would be an unrelated problem I believe.

it works off the switch on the gas pedal,,, when you press the pedal it sends 12v to the silinoid opening it---- why dont you open up the panel that houses the silinoid and put 12 volts to it(the silinoid) if it opens then your problem is in the wiring or the switch- if the direct 12 doesnt open it the silinoid is bad

Carl...I was following your earlier thread with interest since I just got my air door working 3 weeks ago. It's pretty neat to see and hear that thing open. In my case the problem was nothing more that a bad ground. I knew my switch was working and I knew I was getting voltage to the solenoid using a test light so I assumed it was a bad solenoid. When I got it all opened up I noticed alot of corrosion between the solenoid clamp (which the ground wire connects to) and the solenoid. I just cleaned it all up with a wire brush and that did the trick. :cheers:
