quick question. did the 77 corvette have the crossed flag emblem on the side fenders just above the louve? my 77 L-82 had emblems on the front and rear gas cap, but none on the fenders. could anyone shed some light?
The early 77's did not have the crossed flags on the side. They had the alarm on the side. Later 77's moved the alarm to the door key and put the flags on the side. I'm not sure of the exact date that happened, but I believe it was November/December 1976.
My 77 L48 does have the crossed flag emblems on the side fenders, as well as the front and gas cap. I kinda wish they were Stingray emblems though because I have had people say "oh its not a Stingray that sucks..."
My car has the alarm key right in front of my driver's side crossed flag emblem. Have a look at my pic.
The first year 68 Stingray did not have the emblems either. If someone can't recognize a Stingray w/o the emblems that's their problem. The factory wanted to change the new car so that it could be identified as new at the time & emblems are an inexpensive way to do it.
nice picture and great color. i've received conflicting reports regarding the emblem. right now, the car is sans the emblems. we have a resident corvette expert here in the hampton roads area and it appears i'll give him a call. :steering:

I get the same thing with my 77... I'm getting tired of reminding people that the last year of the Stingray was 76..
