Anyone installed a big brake kit on their C-3? Pics? Parts if you pieced together your own kit? I would like to have 13" rotors and 6-piston calipers like the kits for C-5s. Using 18" wheels so clearance is not a problem.
no 13" rotors but I do have Wilwood Integra 6 piston calipers. Had to make my own brackets and you better have some big wheels and long wheel studs because you will need either a 3/8" spacer or rotors with thicker hats (coleman has GN rotors w/ custom hats available)
Approx prices
Wilwood 6 piston superlights $300 each
Vette brakes Aluminum hubs, $190 each
Coleman custom order 13" rotors to fit VB's hubs $160 each
I have brackets designed($100 pair), or you can fab your own
17" Torque thrust II's, standard Vette backspacing, or better required
Vette Brakes aluminum hubs weigh a TON! think about runnig a conventional rotor "hat" instead. The hat is an object that looks exactly like a hat and locates on the wheel studs and hub flange, then you give how much offset to from the flange face to the caliper location. Hats can be cast aluminum or steel stampings, I like steel on street cars you can forget about it after installation where aluminum hats should be inspected for cracking on a regular basis.
Well since I don't have a scale I have to guess and figure...
The calipers are a lot lighter, like 5-10lbs each. Huge difference
The 13" hub/rotor is also lighter, but not by much, prolly less than a pound.
of course if you go Norval on them and get them drilled they'd be a lot lighter!
The bracket is about the same...

What does this setup weigh compared to the OE design?
