I have a freshly rebuilt Qjet on my 350. The engine has also just undergone a complete overhaul. After warming up, it runs smooth and cool. I just have a problem starting. It seems that it will only start after turning it over for about 30 seconds and pumping the heck out of the accelerator. Spark is good, so I’m thinking the carb. The choke is also functioning normally. It acts as though there is no fuel in the carb at start up and the fuel pump must be driven for a while to pump fuel up to it. Anyone out there have any suggestions or similar experience? Thanks
Well, if you need a new Rochester Q Jet send me an email. It was rebuild by Holley I used it for an hour when I noticed it was the wrong cfm its 650. I paid 500.00 for it and would sell it to you for 350.00. I need to get rid of it, because its just collecting dust.
I appreciate the offer, but I think I'll try and work out the problems with this one. It's the original Qjet that came on the engine and I would hate to separate them unless it is absolutely necessary.
I thought of the fuel pump also. I hate to think that it's the cause. I just bought it for the rebuild, brand new. Is there a way to check it without replacing it?
