Default Corvette Central Parts

I am considering buying a carb. from Corvette Central for my 80 L48. Its a new, not remanufactured Q-Jet made by Edlebrock. Has anyone purchased one of these from Corvette Central? Also, does anyone have a discount code for corvette central? Thanks. :conehead

Hey...I have an 80 L-48. My carb is messed up so I took it off last week and sent it to Lars. Maybe you should too and save some cash. I havn't got mine back yet but from everything I have read about Lars and his work, it was the right thing to do. His Q-Jet reputation is unsurpassed from reading around the net.

Just a thought!

:iagree: I also have a 1980 L48. I also sent it to Lars. There may be a trend here!

Alas-I emailed Lars, but he's backlogged and can't really take any new projects. I had heard from other forum members that he was amazing with Q-Jets, but I really cant wait till the sometime in the summer for his schedule to free up a bit. Just feel lucky that you guys beat me to it. :mad

I believe the carburetor that Corvette Central is selling is Edelbrock no. 1904.
This carburetor is designed for 1980 thru 1989 chevy trucks but will fit your
car. As such, will not give optimum performance for your car out of the
box.
It is available thru Advance Auto parts and at other suppliers such
as Summit and Jegs. I have provided a link for Summit:

EDL-1904

$475.95

Tips

All new carburetors--not rebuilt!

Carburetor, Gasoline, 795 CFM, Electric Choke

Quadrajet carburetors were original equipment on some of the most popular GM vehicles on the road today. Edelbrock has now refined these classics, while retaining their original replacement status. These 50 state legal Performer Q-Jet series carbs are compatible with all stock linkage and components for the years listed, and will fit stock intake manifolds. Engineered and calibrated to stock specs, they include all required vacuum ports, and feature triple booster primary venturii for maximum fuel economy.

Would recommend getting your Q jet rebuilt. If Lars is too busy there are
other rebuilders around. I have used Pony carburetors in New Woodstock,
NY for several carburetors with good success. They are not cheap,
charging around $350 for a doing a complete rebuild which includes replating
for an original factory finish.

Thanks for the info. Do you know of any good carb rebuilders in CA? I would prefer to rebuild my carb so that I can keep it stock, but would only consider using a carb rebuilder that comes recommended. NY (my former state) is kind of far.

Try checking out Recarbco, they did my Q-JET, I have`nt put it on yet as the restoration is not quite finished. They appear very versed on carb rebuilding. My talk with them left me confident in there work. The carb looks great and they bench flow them and then run them on an engine...check them out. :chevy

Summit now sells rebuilt q-jets under their brand name for about $300, you have search on their site under 'Summit quadrajet' to bring them up, you cannot get to them by going through the menus.

Auto Zone sells Holley rebuilt Qjets. I have had very good luck with them. Not the house brand, not Champion- but Holley rebuilt.

Thanks for all the info guys. My goal is to pass my CA smog test, so anything I put on must be 50 state legal. Its tough being a Vette owner in CA.

I know LARS is the best but call RECARBCO in California. You should be able to get your carb rebuilt in less then a week for less then $200. It will be BRAND NEW when they are finished with it. Ask of Amy. It ocst me $127 for 1 1970 QJET. Search on the web and you will find them.

I haven't purchased a carb from them, but I have purchased other parts and I've been pleased with the service and parts.

I called RECARBCO and they want 275 + tax to rebuild my carb. Not a bad price for a shop thats gotten some good forum recommandations. Also they have a store within reasonable driving range of my San Jose house.

Another tempting option is the Holley rebuilt Q-jet available from auto-zone. The price is about 35 more than the Recarbco if I dont give over my old stock carb (which I wont). The benefit of this is that I have a second carb. This way I can try to rebuild my old carb as a learning experience.

Well, thanks for all the advise guys.
