Well? My interior is 592 and the seats look like they are two toned. Does anything seem out of the norm. And what does the L stand for on my paint code. I looked at the 1980 history page and it says nothing of a 59L paint code?
Re: Paint code 59L?? whats the L stand for (78 Vette)
lower I'm pretty sure.
Yes, it is LOWER. On my '74's original broadcast sheet('73 & up "build sheet"), it clearly shows under paint code "80U Upper" & the next line down "80L Lower". '73 & earlier had that "9xx" paint code number. '74 & up had the "xxL" paint code number. :yesnod:

:iagree:
The seats in my 1980 Frost Beige (originally), Doe Skin leather, car also look "two-toned". The seat surfaces are leather, the seat bolsters are vinyl. I believe the color difference is just the material fading at different rates. :)
Someone painted the car red, and then someone painted the car black. I get to paint it again - Frost Beige is not my favorite color - so ...... I am trying to decide on the exterior color. I'm going to keep the interior Doe Skin.

The 592 interior code is for Doeskin Leather/Vinyl. Over the years the leather and vinyl age differently and fade differently. It was close when new.
Exterior could be ordered with different upper and lower paint colors in some of those years. If yours is solid Frost Beige, its just the way they printed the label.
so it doesn't really mean anything. Its just the way it was printed? I don't think they started the two tone until 81.. And are the sticker stripes running along the fenders and and around the rear spoiler originall or something one of the previous owners may have added

so whats lower mean? I don't get it.
During the mid-seventies when it was possible to have two tone paint on other GM cars when this was used, it was just noted this way on Corvettes that the "LOWER" code was used for the "main color" of the Corvette.
