Replacing Rear Body Mounts 1976 Help!
When replacing my rear shocks I noticed that the rear body mounts are in real sad shape. I understand there is a weld nut on the other end of the bolt. How the heck do I get to it? The other body mounts are passable and I am not doing a frame off, just want to repair the rear ones. When I get the bolt out what is a safe procedure to raise the body enough to get the new mount in?

You will need to raise the back end about 2-3 inches. You will need to unbolt the bumper and #3 mounts so that can be done. The nuts can be found under the carpet behind the wheels inside a 4X4 recess in the body. I used a mirro and a flashlight to see them. There are held to the body by 2 aluminum rivets and a cage strap. They are not welded to anything. The nuts are square. You should replace the metal support that the mount sits on. They are usualy rusted out. They are held to the body with 8 aluminum rivets.
