Are there any tricks or special tools needed to replace the ps hoses on a 75? Do they just go on and off with a wrench? I am assuming it is a do it yourself job.
If your 75 is like my 71 you will have very little room between the hoses and the power steering cyclinder frame bracket when the wheels are turned all the way. The hoses will rub this bracket if not positioned properly.
:iagree: :iagree: :iagree:
Replace everything while you are at it. I know on mine the ONLY thing that I didn't replace was the piston and now it is leaking. PS pump is an easy rebuilt too. We need to take advantage of those few and far between "easy" projects when possible
I like to flush out the pump with p/s fulid to get the crud out of it before I put it all back together. But as others have said, just watch for rub spots and use flair wrenches.
I've got my PS pump out right now. Is there a rebuild kit available? from whom?
Thanks...
yes, Zip has one. I just received mine and it includes new seals and o-rings. follow the GM rebuild procedure and pump should be as good as new. most of the mechanical parts are low-wear, so it is unlikely that the pump vanes or bearing will need to be replaced.
