I got the shaft today from paypal, and ebay.

1. Check your Paypal account. NOW! Make sure no one has hijacked your password and changed your information.
2. The seller MUST ship the item to the Paypal address. Otherwise, it is an unconfirmed shipment.
3. Dispute the charge. NOW! You haven't done this already?
4. Stop looking at this post and take action. NOW! Dispute this transaction to ebay, Paypal, and your bank and/or credit card issuer who transfers funds to Paypal.

I called them today, paypal. Thay said that it took place at home on my computer. What eats at me is thay couldnt even give me my IP address.

 

I got to say there's something doesn't sound right here. You need two separate passwords to access both an Ebay account to bid and a PayPal account to pay. Even if Ebay's just blowing smoke up your skirt about the IP address, how likely is it that someone could have hijacked both of your accounts? Was it a bank transfer or credit card?

As Page62 said, PayPal uses confirmed addresses. If the seller sent an item to an unconfirmed address (which of course would not be your address), then he is liable to a chargeback if the payment was made through a credit card. Gets dicier though if it was a bank transfer.

Did you reply to any emails saying that your account information was invalid or needed to be updated? That's the scam de jour for getting passwords.

So, the seller shipped to your wife's work address? I'm real confused, here. Have you contacted the seller? Does he say he shipped to that address? Unless he's in on it, why would he ship to any other address than the one that PayPal sent him with the payment notice?

is that to your wife's work address? my ebay stuff is payed threw my girlfriends PP account and is shipped to my address (unconfirmed) all i do is
click on other address' she set it up, so i can take care of most of it, But
she gave me the password to pay??? seams like this would be like credit

I had someone send me an email saying there was a problem with my account and made it sound very legitimate. It even had all the normal ebay logos and general information. They wanted me to verify all my accounts, including paypal (ebay owns paypal now). It seemed so legit that I almost did it, then I thought twice and didn't. I even went in to my accounts and changed passwords just to be safe.

Are you sure you didn't give out your information?

No matter what, don't give in and don't pay. If it was charged to your credit card through paypal, go to your credit card company and dispute it.

Many hate & no longer accept paypal. All paypal cares about is getting the money, no sense of fairness or even a concept of customer service, just get the money. Maybe ebay will fix paypal. You need to contact ebay. More need to dump paypal.

 

I also recently had my e-bay account hijacked. Someone posted items for sale on it. It took at least 5 communications to get that straight. Be persistant!They finally gave me credit for the bogus post.

Just some simple words of advice. If you ever get an e mail from anyone that will ask you for your account number and your pin and other personal info do not give it out period ! Even if you think the notice is lagite please call your financial center and ask them. There has been e mails that have been going around as of late with major bank chain names as well as other money holders to get YOUR INFO. Oh one more thing I would not do business with PayPal. But that is just me :).
