you need to look at the IFR and also you need to try a smaller jets with bigger PVR. DPs are race calibrated carbs and mus be recalibrated for street driving. :chevy

If you decide to go with the holes in the throttle plates don't just start drilling anywhere. The holes are to be drilled in such a way as to require you to hold the throttle closed while drilling, don't just drill on the side that pushes the throttles closed, this is the wrong side.
If you remove the throttle plate assembly then you can drill from the top on the side of the throttle plate that pushes the throttle closed.
Don't know if that was clear but if the carb is not diassembled drill on the part of the throttle that causes the throttle to be pushed open if you just drill.

Read this article. It shows drilled plates and where the wires go in the idle circuit. http://www.chevyhiperformance.com/ho...498/index.html

You can save the carb. Just learn about doing it yourself. Alot of faith is put in mechanics that really don't know what they are doing.
Some of the dumbest people working on cars are mechanics and some of the brights/best are not.
Learn to do it yourself, the carb just needs tuning and only a guy really dedicated can figure it out. Just follow some advice, not always mine but it works.

Good advice from Norval. Learn to do it yourself. A few months ago I didn't know how to tune mine but I'm good at it now, thanks to the forum (and Lars).
