Re: Do You Have A Decorative Front Plate? (OHSIXX)
I've got an original 1974 tag that a friend gave me. I'd rather have the grille (anybody got one for 73-74 they want to give me?). If not either of those, I'd have the USA-1 tag that I've got on my Lumina.

RANGER
US ARMY
and army airborne wings in silver in the background.
I wouldn't normally have anything up there, but my son bought it for me as a birthday present years ago. 1. It tells me that my son is proud of his dad. 2. I'm proud of what I do. 3. It's Black and Gold and actually goes well with the car.
Re: Do You Have A Decorative Front Plate? (OHSIXX)
I have no front plate. The state requires one, but I just can't seem to locate the proper mounting bracket and bolts. Darn, I'll just have to keep looking...
Re: Do You Have A Decorative Front Plate? (OHSIXX)
If I didn't have to have a plate (required by the State of Texas) I wouldn't have one! There is little enough air that get's in the front of a C3 as it is, then you have to stick a plate in the front of the major air opening.
Re: Do You Have A Decorative Front Plate? (Smokehouse69)
When mg to Fl. here in '97, my car had a Maryland tag on front, and tended to get hot on the freeways, couse I had the 4 speed 336 rear too, I was thinking larger radiator, but it was a new late camaro radiator, so should have been ok...it was, in reality...just put a C4 front corvette plate on it, and the overheating continued....finally I was informed that behind the plate bracket is a center grill....took the whole damn thing off, and the hot running went away, broke the back of the symptom immediately...ran a bit warm still, and that is one reason I went with a/drive auto 700, to slow down the engine from 4000 rpm at 80 cruising speed....
course I also picked up a few extra ponies with the new engine at the same time....but never had a problem on highway overheating since, unless leaving the radiator cap off.....long story..damn phone calls....
Re: Do You Have A Decorative Front Plate? (GrandSportC3)
I've got a Nat'l Corvette Museum Plate with a graphic of the museum and the year "1974" across it ... its based on a Kentucky license plate ... answers the question I always get at gas stations ... "What year is it?"
Re: Do You Have A Decorative Front Plate? (OHSIXX)
I have a black plate with a chrome license surround with SHARKS teeth on it. Found it at WLAMART for $7. It looks evil on the car. Everyone who sees it complements me on it.
I am going to cut out the centre of the backing plate to get air flow.
