I don't see how it would cause any problems. Getting rid of the lockup will help durability. If you go to all that trouble, why not put in a 200R4 or a 700R4?
The reason I am replacing it or rebuilding it is 2nd gear went out in it ...
All other gears are working good and it pulls good and hard in 1st and 3rd and reverse . 2nd gear just decided to take a rest..
I can get a good deal on a regular 350 that is the reason for a 350.... I can get a 350 cheaper than a rebuild....
Plug it in, works fine, just make sure to save the old tranny incase that delete sets a code....then measure the lockup solenoid for resistance, and put a dummy load///resistor in it's place....bet that don't happen though....
Shouldn't make the slightest bit of difference. When my TCC failed I was doing a whole pile of diagnostic tests (ie. wasting my time!) & had it unplugged at the firewall connector for a while. Didn't notice the computer having any problems (but the computer could have been the reason why the TCC wasn't working, so I'm not 100% sure on that).
To verify, before swapping trannys, why dot just unplug the TCC & see if the computer notices? If you follow the wires from the case connector (d.side on upper edge) you'll find a connector at the top of the firewall. It's a lot easier to get to this connector than the one on the case.
In case there are problems, the resistance of a new replacement TCC solenoid is 23ohms.
