Default A couple questions from a newcomer

1. What year(s) were factory side-pipes offered?
2. I'm looking for a convertible and I understand the last year they were made was '75? From 68-75, is there a more desirable year that I should be aware of when it comes to pricing?
3. There's a '74 convertible with an L82, 4spd for sale near my home in San Diego....is 14,500 a reasonable asking price?
4. If I can't find one with side-pipes, can you add them to any model year?

Thanks in advance for your help

1. Factory side exhaust was available as an option in 1969 only.

2. Yes I think 1975 was the last year for convertibles and the first year for Cat's. Obviously the numbers matching BB's and LT-1's are the most valuable in any year.

3. Depends on condition and whether numbers match. I think the L82 was the only performance 350 offered in 1974.

4. I know there are a couple 1979's here on the forum with '69 factory pipes so probably. You can add Hooker side mount pipes to just about any vette.

Good Luck.

Just my opinion, but the 69 Convertible is probably the most desireable C3.

After that comes the 70, 71, and 72, but they all are great vettes to own. Take your time and get the right one for you.

If you live in California, think twice before buying a '76 or later Vette. You can't put sidepipes on it...and pass emissions...

I know this is the C3 forum, but factory sidepipes were available in 65,66, and 67, as well as 69. :) MJ
