Took about 6.5 hours to install the steeroids system. I have no binding in the steering u-joints so expected good results on first drive.
During the first drive i noticed that there is binding when turning corners, it gets hard then easy when turning. Right now it is back up on stands and i have found the source of the binding. I have 2 questions for any takers:
1. Both tie rod sleeves are rubbing against the lower a-arm and both already have small grooves worn in them, this is probably the source of what feels like binding. Anyone experience this or have any ideas on how to remedy.
2. I could not get the tie rods to fully seat, about a 1/4" still hangs out from being flush. Any problems leaving like this?
I have not had an alignment yet, i used the procedure in the instructions for an approx. alignment.
Re: Steeroids Part 2, Installation & Test (Vette-4-Life)
I just yanked out my stock setup Friday, and I put together the Steeroids setup last night, I'll be installing all the brackets and the rack itself today. I'm curious to see if I have any problems. Here's what I found though, when I installed the tie rod bracket to the rack, I couldn't use the lock washers and the flat washers, the supplied bolts were too short. So I ditched the lock washers and used the flat washers as well as thread locker. Also, I didn't like the way they had the lockwashers on the inner tie rod bolts actually making contact with the inner tie rod joint, so again, I didn't use them, I just again used thread locker. Anybody else see this or was I the only paranoid one?

I found that if i used any type of washer on the tie rod bracket that bolts to the rack then the bolt head would definately hit the lower a-arm, it's very tight tolerance down there

Call Speed Direct tomorrow and tell them what is happening, and what you had to do to make the tie rods fit. FYI, I just checked my car and there is 1/4" between the a-arms and tie rods.
Re: Steeroids Part 2, Installation & Test (page62)
Ok, i got out the file and filed down both lower a-arm frames, about 1/16". It was an area about 1" long that was causing the problem. I also noticed that the set screws holding the ujoint to the rack would rub against the frame, i switched these to the shorter ones supplied with kit. Looks like all rubbing is gone and it now steers as i expected, about as responsive as my C4.
Next stop is an alignment shop.

I have all the binding out of my unit. But there is the noise I can here wile turning the steering wheel back and forth. Seems like the steering joints are loose. Any of you have the same thing?
Re: Steeroids Part 2, Installation & Test (Vette-4-Life)
I am very surprised there is close enough tolerances to allow rubbing of any type in the steeroids setup....never should happen, obviously...and in the example I saw, not an issue....
I have about 1/2 inch clearance between my tie rods and the A arms....
