I have 17 inch TT2s on the vette right now. 245/45/zr17s up front and 255/45/zr17s in the back. I talked to Discount tire and they said my rim will accept a 275/40/zr17 in the back.
But I am really torn between what I have and the Convo Pros.
I don't drive my vette that often. It's not going to be a track only car although I would like to start going a little more often. If I have the chance on the road I will run someone. I should have around 480 hp and 500 lbft of tq, although I'm not finished tuning yet, so it doesn't feel like it.
#1 can I fit 275s on my 17's with stock trailing arms? I could care less If I have parking brake.(I have heard that gets in the way)
#2 If they do fit will I hook up with Nitto Extreme Drags? I am running a 2200 stall.
What width are your rear wheels that you can fit a 275/40/17 on, I'm guessing 9.5" ? I have 8" wide in the back right now,but would like to step up to a 275 series tire from the 255 presently on there ;)
nope a 8.5 inch i believe. I was talking to some tire reps and they said it should be fine. They said it gets hairy when you go to an 18inch and do the same. Discount tire ppl were saying that most ppl that have mustangs (which have a 17*8) go for the 275's and have been happy.
For a short time I had 275's on my 8"x17" TTII's. It looked a little silly, but it did fit. I had a flat tire that was un-repairable so all they had in usaed tires were two "America Turbo" or some odd named tirer that was a 275. They happened to come off a C4. Now I have 255 Kuhmo's. They aren't sticky or wide enough for the power I am making.
My concern besides the looks, was that the tires might not wear properly.
I really like the convo pros. I always wanted a set of TT2's until last winter when somebody, although I'm not completely sure who it was, Motorhead I believe, installed a set on his car, then GrandSport posted some pics of his, now that's what I am going with one of these next years.
