I need help with 79 headlights
When I got the car both low beams were out. I bought them and the lights still don't work. What fuses do I need to check? If it's not a fuse what next? Any advise is welcome. :conehead

hi, do the high beams work? if they do, you might have either a bad ground or a bad switch. my 79 acts weird at times . my dash lights sometimes dont work and if i play with the switch,they come on. maybe you just have a corroded socket....... good luck, let us know if you fixed it... thx, jim. :cheers:

If your high beams are working it's probably not a fuse. You'll need to check for voltage at the low beam headlight connector. Check the headlight on the driver's side.Stick one lead in the known hot terminal and the other lead to a known ground. If you have power then the ground connection is bad on the connector. If you can't read any voltage then the problem is ahead of the headlight connectors. The wire could be broken between the dimmer switch and the headlight connector or the low beam contact in the dimmer switch is bad. I'm speaking of an 81 wiring , a 79 should be similar. Now if bubba has been working on your lights forget everything I've said. :D

You are due for a new headlight switch. The rheostat (dimming) is going bad.
