Re: Installing Rug set this weekend. Any Tricks etc? (Larry3x2)
Take your time. Install a heat/sound barrier before carpet & pad. Fit carpet and study how carpet overlaps/underlays other components BEFORE you trim. I found that poking large nails or an awl from UNDER the car through the installed carpet helps you find the retractor cover bolt holes, seat mount bolt holes, seat belt/shoulder belt mount holes, etc... Be sure to leave enough carpet to lay UNDER the door sills, belt retractor covers, storage compartment, kick panels, shift console, P-brake cover..etc. I like to cut a small 3" flap into the carpet where both forward seat tracks sit so they actually sit below the carpet. The flap folds down after the forward seat mount bolt gets installed and hides it & the track. 3-M spray adhesive #77 works great for carpet/heat blanket too.
Good Luck

When you make the holes in the carpet for mounting the seats, seat belt anchors, etc, use a soldering iron to burn a nice clean hole otherwise when you turn the bolts to tighten things up they will bind.

Lay it in the sun for an hour, lay it in the car and fit it by hand, pushing it into corners and across the car till your sure it is in position, and cut gingerly. Fit everything carefully and be sure everything is as the old was before cutting anything. :yesnod:

You're getting excellent advice from everyone. IMO, the most important thing is the heat barrier/insulation. It not only keeps the interior cooler, but cuts down on noise too. Believe me you'll kick yourself if you don't install it. Here's how I did mine, and how it turned out
