Does any one remember the thread on cutting coil springs? I know some one made up a spread sheet of how much spring you cut = how much it will lower the car
I have the spreadsheet. Please keep in mind that this sheet is not exact for several reasons. Number one, the spring rate changes at different positions due to the amount of the spring that comes into contact with the a-arm and frame. Any part of the spring touching other metal (ie the frame, a-arm, or other coils) is inactive. As the spring is compressed, more of it comes into contact with these things, lowering the number of active coils, and increasing the spring rate. Also, careful measurements are required of the coil diameter and the distance between coils. Fionally, knowing how much weight is on the front end is key to knowing how much the ride height will change. I will be glad to provide the sheet, but please understand my sheet is not an exact tool. There are too many variables. It will however tell you how much the rate changes at the free height.

Re: Cutting coil springs (comp)
I cut about 1 1/4 coil on my 460's and my fender sits about 26" with 26" tires. I also have aluminum heads, intake and water pump and headers instead of the heavy manifolds.
