Odometer not working
My odometer hasnt worked since I have had my 70 vette. I now need it to work to keep a milage log book. The speedo works but not the odometer or trip meter.
Are there common problems with these? and are they easily fixed?
How hard is it to get the gauge out?

The odometer problem is common.. It is the odometer drive gear. Corvetteinstument services in Florida will fix it or supply you with the parts. The unit needs to be removed to do the work I did mine and refurbished some other small gauges at the same time. There is a tutorial at http://www.corvettefaq.com.

I had to repair the trip odometer on mine. The task of removing the gauge itself takes longer than the actual repair. This is NOT a task I'll soon repeat if I can help it. Getting enough room to get the unit out is the real tough part. The "docs" make it sound like a easy thing to do.....
BTW: the trip od problem on mine was that it had "jumped" a gear inside where the numbers turn. Very easy to repair. No part replacement involved. Once it's out make sure the trip cable is well lubed and easy to turn.
