Does anyone know of a remote central locking setup that's available to fit a 1982 Vette? I don't want an alarm system, just the gadget required to unlock the car when you're walking up to it.

What you want is "Remote Keyless Entry" unit. As long as you have power locks, shouldn't be a problem to find or install. I know that Bulldog Security makes a unit that you can buy at places like WalMart or Meijer. To get your parking lights to flash, you need to buy an additional relay unit (or buy relays yourself and wire them in). I'm planning on doing this mod too since I have my doors and interior torn apart already.
Re: remote central locking fora C3... (saudivette)
My sister bought me a Bulldog Remote starter and I had to order the PassKey bypass. The bypass turned out to be bad and it took me forever to get through to their techs for assistance. I ended up sending an e-mail dierctly to their president and got a call within a few hours. The sent me a new bypass and it has worked great every since.

Plan on spending about $50 for the unit. You want to call a car alarm shop and see how much they would charge for an installed unit. My guess is $75-100. Might be worth the extra few $ for piece of mind. I'll do mine myself for sure but only because it's easy to get at while everything is out already. Let us know what you come up with and how it goes!
Re: remote central locking for a C3... (saudivette)
Yeah, that's what I understand courtesy light to be..
I ask about the parking light flash because Bulldog has a basic model which requires additional relays for that option and a "Pro" package which includes it. The link at JC Whitney's for the Valiant model didn't state anything about parking light or courtesy light output so I'm assuming it doesn't have it... Maybe I'll check their website for specs instead of ASSuming.
I put a Bulldog remote starter in both my truck and my wife's old van so I have a comfort level with them, but I'm open to other ones that might be more reliable.

Actually, most of the different brands I have looked at have a kit that has keyless entry AND remote starting. I was going to steer clear of the remote starting as I know nothing about them. Are they any good? Reliable, easy to install etc...
Re: remote central locking for a C3... (saudivette)
I put a Bulldog remote starter in my 2000 Silverado a couple of years ago. It was a little daunting for someone who isn't very electronically inclined, but I did it. On the Vette or something less complex, it should be a snap.
Re: remote central locking for a C3... (saudivette)
True, most starters have the option of keyless entry too. The remote starts I have seen are all meant for fuel injected cars.. Easy to install but I wouldn't even dream of putting it on my C3. That's why I'm just looking at keyless entry units this time round.
