Default Dead cylinder?

My number 3 cylinder is not making any heat, all of the others are about the same temp. I thought it might be a spark plug but just put in all new ones, the wire looks ok and when you pull the boot off of the cap it has spark. Any ideas on what could be wrong? Also any way to test my MSD 6al? The engine seems to be running rough and also pops pretty loud at the side pipe. Could it be a bad valve or lifter..Thanks for the help

If you are getting spark out of the boot when removed, then there is no need to test the 6al. Take off the valve cover, take the coil wire off, and turn the engine over. Watch to see what happens with the rockers at that cylinder.

Sounds like a dead cyl.
You need to check compression in that cyl. should be over 80lbs if it is the cam has lost a lobe. This will require a new cam and lifters

I did a test last night with another plug hooked up to the number 3 wire and it does have spark. Next step is to pull the valve cover, I am almost afraid to do it for what I will find!!!! :cry

Do you know how to check for a burned intake valve ? It sure would be nice if it was something simple like a bent pushrod or rocker arm backed off .
