Default Installing cam, tips, advice?

Im going to be installing a cam and lifters next weekend, any advice? tips? How hard is it? :cheers:
I have a 79 L-48, with performer rpm intake and 650 cfm Speed demon carb. :cool:

If you've never done this before, I suggest reading up on the procedure. Haynes, Chiltons, and GM shop manuals have a wealth of info. Have you considered changing a few things since you've got the motor apart? Roller timing chain...high flow water pump...high flow fuel pump...roller tip rockers...etc. Proper cam/lifter break in is also a must. The proper tools are extremely important also. Dampner pullers can be rented cheap!! Since the entire front of the engine compartment will be out...clean and paint everything before you reassemble. You'll be glad you did. How about stainless bolts to replace the old rusted ones? There are a TON of technical issues you must do right, so read up on them before starting. Best of luck....and take your time.
