The current domestic crisis is a dead Sony Playstation II.
When my ace video game player tries to load a game he gets a "Disk Read Error" message.
Any idea what this means or how to fix it?
nothing he can do worth while, it actually costs more to fix it than buy a new one. sony openly has has repair program for this widespread prob with first gen ps2's, but they won't warranty. tell him to trade it in at EB games, they don't check most the time.
.........maybe the Playstation needs a clean.........a Q-Tip and some isopropyl worked wonders on the "laser eye" on my old Sega Saturn and first Gen Playstation......
.......I know it's a longshot, but I can't stand the thought that someone out there isn't having any fun.........
DO NOT THROW IT OUT. This is a very common problem. There are tons of sites on the internet on how to fix it. Try Biffs link above.
That being said, I had the same problem and took it apart using the internet instructions and I couldn't fix mine. Mine was beyond repair. But it's worth a try.
Also - try different games. Some may read error, some may not.
Don't throw it out! My neighbor owns a TV/VCR/PC repair shop, and his bread and butter is repairing PS2s. It's around 35 bucks to fix it. I'm sure there's a shop in Austin that can handle it. Call around.
