Anyone out there installed one of those B&M $30 shift kits in their car? Is it complicated for a the do-it-yourselfer. On the board I see a range of guys who are as advanced as machining their own parts to guys who think changing oil is a challenge(C4,C5 guys)...I fall somewhere in the middle. My GTO had a TH400 with one already installed in it and I liked how it shifted.
Thanks for the advice...Did you guys install it yourself, ie the only thing I have ever done to an automatic is change fluid and filter...Do the instructions that come with it do a nice job of walking you through it.
I put the TransGo kit in myself. There's not a whole lot to it. You have to drop the valve body (be careful not to lose the check *****). The new accumulator spring was a little tough, too. If you've done the filter before, though, it shouldn't be too much for you.
Don't know about the TransGo kit,I'm sure it's a quality kit. I have the B&M TransKit to do a complete rebuild. Most of the mods are common among the kits I believe. I can't tell you how it works because I'm only 1/2 way through the rebuild. Trans is apart, cleaned up,a and ready for rebuilding just haven't had the time yet. :nopity
