I got a litle crack in a exhaust manifold and it leaks .Can it hurt the engine and can it be repaire and how ,cause i got all kind of ansers . :steering:
I don't believe a small crack in the exhaust manifold will hurt anything, but it may get large enough to be a problem. If it's stock you can probably get one from a junk yard or related source. The manifold it cast iron and not everyone can weld cast iron, but I did have a good welder fix an exhaust manifold once and it was about $25 (10yrs ago). Don't use JB Weld or the likes. It's just a bandaid and like all bandaids they eventually come off.
If it were my problem and originality is not my thing, junk yard would be my solution.
I pulled my manifolds, got this exhaust repair stuff in a tube from pep boys and fill in the cracks (it comes in a tube). Then, I painted my manifolds with POR-15 manifold paint. They will look like new and the cracks will be filled.
You can choose just to fix the cracks and not paint, but then you'll have these white blotches on your manifolds.
This solution worked great for me. ZERO problems. :steering:

Re: cracked manifold (COMMANDER370)
Manifolds are not difficult to weld,, as long as the person knows how to weld cast iron, and has the proper pre-heat and cool down equipement. I'v done a few myself with excelent results.............
