Agreed, good question. Am curious to hear the answer. The guy doing some work on my Vette has a body off restored 70 sitting in his shop right now the clearance on that car is absolutely no more than 1/2", maybe less. It looks like it would shred the sidewall on a hard turn, but apparently they have no problem with it.

What does he have? 15 16 17 18. then again, with 17 and over there
is not much tire flex.
VBP, Do you make a shorter spring? I have your 360 in it now. What other options are there? Wheel spacers and even bigger tires might make my car look like a John Deer.
I know that Guldstrand sells a shorter spring. I have 17" rims on mine and the spring is inside the wheel so tire clearance isn't an issue for me. But in a couple weeks I will have Guldstrand rebuild the rear suspention and they want to use the shorter spring anyway.
I have BFG Radial T/A size 275/60/R15 and they have about 1/2" of clearance from the spring. I've never had any problem with them clearing the spring and i've been driving with these tires for a year and a half.
Hope that helps. (can't wait to get a 502 in mine!)
It really depends what part of the tire it is near. If it's 1/2" from a near-the-rim part of the tire, you are fine. But if it's 1/2" and any lower, you're in trouble. Ask me how I know Obviously this is because where the tire contacts the rim, it's not really moving.
