Default Rear Brake Problem

Help! I had my '68 out on Wednesday and began having trouble with my right rear brakes. After about 40 minutes of driving the right rear brake wouldn't fully release. After driving for a while it released but than seemed to lock again a short time later. The problem is only on the right rear, the left side is fine.

Are they thee original calipers ? You may just need a caliper rebuild kit.

the rubber flex line might be bad. They get soft and squeeze together, this will cuase that brake to temporarily lock up.

Had the same thing happen on the left front on my 76 last week. I thought it was the caliper so I replaced that. Didn't go away! It was the brake hose,a $12.74 part. They collapse on the inside and don't release the fluid.
Just lossen the hose and when it starts to drip fluid your wheel should loosen up. John

If you just bought the car, now is the time to look really closely at the brakes at all 4 wheels. Pull the wheels and look closely at the calipers checking for leaks. Also look at the fluid and if it is dirty, change it. If the rubber lines are old, change them also. If any of this stuff is borderline, I would suggest that you order a complete kit (calipers, shoes, lines etc.) from VBP and be done with it. If you haven't done so already, you should also check the trailing arms. If you have a bearing seizing up, you want to fix that before it goes. Good luck
