I have an 80 automatic. Where is the neutral switch physically located? Can't find it in any of my books. Car is completely dead at start. Jumper the solenoid, starts right up. I am trying to troubleshoot to see if it is the neutral switch or the ignition switch. Starter and solenoid was just rebuilt.
Re: Neutral Safety Switch Location? (Dk Met Grn 80 L82)
It's under the console on the passenger side of the shifter. Just jump the two wires togther and see if it works. You might not have to disassemble the entire console. You may be able to get away with just taking the side panel off the console and leave the top console on and access it in there. Jump the wires, see if it starts. If it's the neutral safety switch, just bypass it. Safety features are just hassles.

I did by pass mine. The first year was very exciting for me.
A couple of times I almost went through a wall.
A few times I almost killed the people standing in front of my car.
At the service station I almost ran up the azz end of the guy at the pump ahead of me. I'm well trained now....Hope I never suffer memory loss.
Thanks for the replies. I didn't know what it looked like so it was hard to find. I found it and it checked out good. Problem was a loose connector on the main harness to the starter. Starts fine now.
