Battery guage needle flickers
The battery guage needle in my 68 flickers. The needle also doesn't center but rests at about 1/2" to the left of center. What's the problem and the fix?

First make sure you have good connections everywhere. Start at the plug on the alternator and regulator. If all is good the check the alternator output with a know good gage. This is just eliminating things. Mine started fluttering at every electrical input. Happened overnight.. The flutter turned out to be a bad winding in the gage itself. I just unwound the wire and rewound it with another piece of insulated wire of the same size and length and its working perfectly. Repro gages just don't make the grade for me so I fixed mine.
