Fuel pump leaking oil??
Can a fuel pump leak oil? I have a new oil leak and it appears to be coming from the fuel pump housing, not the joint to the block. No oil above it. Its not coming from the front of the engine, it just seems to be coming out of the top side of the pump. It still works and no fuel is in the crankcase. I just ordered a new pump but was not aware a pump could fail like this.

Well, I'm certainly no expert, but if the diaphragm breaks I imagine oil (especially under pressure) can find its way out. Usually when this happens you end up with gas leaking into the crankcase.

Could be one of two things... The gasket between the block off plate and the block has an area that is allowing the oil by or the gasket between the pump and the plate.... Ask me how I know.. I just went thru this on mine... The oil was pooling on the top of the fuel pump... I installed a new gasket and some bolts and no more leak... Dave...
