I finally managed to get a hold of a glovebox liner for my '82. It has holders for "8 track" built into it. Was this standard for all Corvettes at the time? If not, are they rare enough that I would be banished to an eternity swimming through donkey vomit if I removed the holders?
It's one of those Corvette anomalies I've never understood...EVERY 82 I've seen (I've owned two and looked at hundreds) has the 8 track glove box. Suspect it was a carry over from the 80 or 81 model...the General didn't want to rush into that cassette thing!
Phew, I thought they might have been ultra rare and I would be ex-communicated from the Corvetting world if I was to modify it. I think I'll remove the holders and as the glovebox is a "lovely" brown colour, I reckon I'll line it with some black or maybe red carpet.
For goodness sake, please don't mention this to the Is-It-Genuine-Corvette-If-Not-You've-Ruined-It gang. It'll start a new topic and we'll never hear the end of it!!
the 8-track holders are pretty common. You got these from the factory when ordering the 8-track option. I can't believe someone was still ordering an 8-track player in '82.
At least your lucky. I've unsuccesfully been looking for a glovebox liner for my 68 going on 6-months.
An aftermarket kit? My understanding was that no early C3 had GB's... I'd love to be wrong, though.
I was kidding you. I was wondering how long before someone caught that. There is no glove boxes until 1978. They had map holders and the 68 had NOTHING
