If you want something a little more reasonably priced, try Professional Products (www.professional-products.com). I just got one thru Scoggin-Dickey Parts Center (sdpc2000.com) and it looks great compared to the Chinese OEM part I tried to put on my 73 big block. They make a good looking SFI-spec model.

I just went through this myself. Be careful if you need a 7" damper (390-400HP 427) because most of the OEM style dampers are 8". Jeg's has some reasonably priced 7" dampers but I don't know about the quality. I ended up buying an ATI Super Damper at a swap meet and it is a very nice piece. It is rebuildable with different durometer O-rings for the capability of custom tuning. You might also check out Competition Products in Wisconsin. I found they have very good prices on SFI certified billet dampers that are Australian made. They are Pioneer brand. If you have a small block or 454, CP has some outstanding prices. ...Much better than Summit or Jegs.

I can't really say if the fluid damper is better than the ATI or OEM style.

I have one of the SFI Austrailian steel dampners on my LT-1. I bought the "race" tuned version because I RACE my car about 30% of the time it's in use. The part is a quality product BUT, be sure and check the fit to the diameter of the crankshaft as this may need to be "tune-up" n a connecting rod honing machine for the proper .002-.0015" interference fit (mine was .006" too small! for my stock Chevy LT-1 crank.) ATI is a good product but, I question the life expectancy of the O-rings and the TCI "Rattler" is a ver good USA made piece along with the Fluiddampner (beware of cheap Chinese made dampners I wouldn't ever run one!)
